Silesian Ribbon Workshop (International Women's Day in Karolin)

Ribbons, known in Silesia as "szlajfki", "szlajfy" or "sznurki", are a key part of nearly every folk costume in this region. Narrow ones are used to secure hair, plaits and beads, wider ones are tied around the waist. The largest, however, are used to decorate bonnets and garlands. Ribbons themselves can be printed or handpainted, most commonly with floral motifs. Join us for a craft workshop to celebrate International Women's Day, during which we'll be painting our own decorative Silesian-style ribbons which are guarenteed to add some colour and style to your outfits!
