“A supposed Miracle, or Cracovians and Highlanders” The first Polish Opera! A staging by “Mazowsze” and invited guests.

Matecznik Mazowsze, Otrębusy, Świerkowa 2 Str.
Allusiveness, funny love interests, comedy, and the open fights between Cracovians and Highlanders portray the social structure of the Polish people before the third partition of the country in the late 18th century.  The libretto of this opera is compared to the “Magic flute” by Mozart.
The opera went missing for long years and was not found until 1929 by Leon Schiller, when it was hailed as the “Polish national opera”.
The synthetic form, but above all the innovative connecting of the music of classicism with Polish folk music creates the highest level of opera. From this time a unique Polish musical style started to develop, one present also in works of Chopin and Moniuszko.
